What is writing coaching?
Writing coaching is a general term for support provided to writers (of all kinds). This is effectively support for those who are in the process of writing, anywhere from the early to late stages.
This service is generally designed for those who are working on books, people who perhaps struggle to finish a project, or get lost in the middle, or those who know they have a book in them, but can’t quite seem to focus. This may be a fictional work, non-fiction or an academic text.
I can provide structuring consultation, feedback and development notes, accountability, planning the work with you at the early stage, redrafting at the late stage. Essentially, my skills as a tutor, editor, writer and proofreader are all at your disposal. We can also work on cover letters, proposals and engagement with the publishing industry.
It may sound like a small thing, but getting people to read your work and provide constant feedback and motivation can be really difficult. Having me on hand to read through and chat to you about your progress may prove to be the difference between thinking about and actually producing a book.
How does it work?
Coaching can take various forms and can be adapted to suit you. We can either meet or chat on a regular basis, or you can simply send me your progress regularly and I will go over it and write up development suggestions and feedback, or a combination of the two. The cost will vary depending on what the service comprises, but the standard rate is £25 per hour (or 32 EUR) or £17 per 1,000 words (22 EUR).
