Welcome to University Tutoring UK. At UTUK I focus on providing university students with the support they need in a system that can often leave them feeling lost and alone. I also provide writers and academics coaching and support in developing writing projects. This involves two main services:

Tutoring & Coaching

My support may comprise tutoring, editing and proofreading, feedback and notes on drafts, or just formatting and quick checks, or a mixture thereof. For tutoring I mainly work with undergraduate and masters students in the humanities, social sciences or arts; coaching is usually more suited to writers and academics. If you don’t quite fit into those boxes, not to worry, just get in touch for a chat to see how I can help!

Importantly, I provide general writing and academic writing, research and study skills coaching/tutoring, not subject-specific tutoring. While I have my own specialism and it may overlap with your area, what I am here to teach you are the general skills that university research, writing and project development requires, and I have significant experience in this. This means that if you need general writing, academic study skills, research and writing support in the humanities, social sciences or arts, I have you covered no matter what you’re studying. This may be guidance through the university system, support with shifting into independent working, dissertation support, academic writing or building skills in writing in exam situations.

For academics and writers, as well as for students, I provide a tailored service drawing on as many or few of my skills as you require.

Proofreading & Editing

For editing and proofreading (without a content feedback or tutoring element), I work with anyone in any subject. I can proofread and edit absolutely all subject areas and indeed have 15 years’ experience doing so.

My support may comprise editing and proofreading, or just formatting and quick checks, or a mixture thereof. This usually just involves sending me the document as a Word file (although I can also work on PDFs and LaTeX) and I will make the edits in track changes.
